Transcription Vocabulary
Last updated: April 18, 2026
Transcription vocabulary lets you teach Glyphic the words and phrases that are special to your business — product names, brand names, internal acronyms, customer-specific jargon — so they're transcribed correctly instead of being misheard.
Why this matters
Generic speech-to-text models are great for everyday English, but they often miss niche terms. If your product is called "Synapse" the transcript might come back as "synapse", "synapsis", or even "send a piece" — which then ripples into summaries, search, and Ask Glyphic.
Adding a phrase to the transcription vocabulary boosts the recognizer's confidence for that exact spelling, so it's much more likely to come through correctly.
Where to manage it
- Go to Settings → Organizational.
- Scroll to Transcription vocabulary.
- Type a phrase and press Enter to add it. Click the × on a chip to remove it.
Rules for phrases
- Letters and standard characters only — no digits. ("ACMEv2" wouldn't work; "ACME" plus a separate phrase for the version name does.)
- Up to 100 characters per phrase.
- No duplicates — case-insensitive.
What to add (and what not to)
Good candidates:
- Product / feature names — Synapse, Lighthouse, Atlas.
- Brand names you mention often — Glyphic, Pylon.
- Internal acronyms used on calls — QBR, ICP, RevOps.
- Industry terminology that's not in the dictionary — onboarding jargon, technical terms, regulated names.
Skip:
- Common English words — they're already recognized well.
- Customer or participant names — Glyphic already factors in the participant list per call automatically.
- Long sentences — vocabulary entries should be the specific terms you want recognized, not whole phrases.
What else helps transcription
The vocabulary list is just one signal. Glyphic also automatically uses information specific to each call — such as the participant names, the company on the call, and the product description from your settings — to improve transcription quality. So you don't need to add a participant's name to the vocabulary just to have it recognized.

FAQ
Will adding a phrase fix existing transcripts?
No. Vocabulary entries influence transcription as it happens. Calls processed before the phrase was added are unaffected.
How many phrases can I add?
There is no hard cap, but practically — keep the list focused. A handful of dozens of unique terms is the sweet spot. A list of hundreds of common words can dilute the signal.
Why doesn't a digit-containing word work (e.g. "v2")?
Numbers are handled separately by the recognizer (e.g. as numerals or written-out form). The vocabulary boost is for unfamiliar word-shapes. If you need "version 2" recognized, add the surrounding word and let the model resolve the digit.
